General Questions

Choosing a hair styling product is very subjective and a matter of personal taste. All of our hair styling products are water-based, so they are easy to apply and easy to wash out completely at the end of the day.

We currently offer six different styling products based on hold and shine.

Each of our hair styling products is available in a standard size and a 2 oz travel-friendly size.

IMPERIAL HAIR STYLING PRODUCTS & BEST USES:

CLASSIC POMADE (6 oz, 2 oz) – The OG heavyweight that started it all.

  • Strongest hold, low shine. Works great on thicker hair. Best for side parted styles, slicked back looks, and pompadours. Applies smoothly and dries heavy.

FIBER POMADE (6 oz, 2 oz) – The all-around utility performer.

  • Medium hold, high shine. Works on all hair types and styles. Easily pliable and re-styleable, great for the “wet” look.

GEL POMADE (12 oz, 2 oz) – The multi-tool of hair styling products.

  • Strong hold, high shine. Use on its own or as a base for other styling products. Dries lightweight, hardens into hair, does not flake or melt, and great for adding volume to hair. Great for all hair types and styles, especially in hot weather and/or high activity.

MATTE POMADE PASTE (5 oz, 2 oz) – The go-to for natural texture & no shine.

  • Medium-light hold, no shine. Works best with thinner hair and for a textured natural look. Dries lightweight and naturally.

BLACKTOP POMADE (6 oz, 2 oz) – The product that stands out from a crowd.

  • Medium-strong hold, low shine. Works best with salt & pepper hair and darker hair color. Enhances dark hair color and covers up to 60% of gray hairs. Works best with most hair types and styles. Has a black tint that applies easily, washes out easily, and does not stain hands.

FREEFORM CREAM (4 oz, 2 oz) – The featherweight champion for loose holds.

  • Light hold, medium shine. Works for all hair types. Best for loose styles, managing flyaway hairs, and the au naturel look and feel.

THE IMPERIAL FIVE-STEP SHAVE SYSTEM:

  1. WASH FACE: Rid face of dirt & grime with the GLYCERIN FACE/SHAVE SOAP and warm water.
  2. PREP THE BEARD: Apply one full droplet of PRE-SHAVE OIL & BEARD CONDITIONER and massage onto wet beard. Acts as a conditioner & protective barrier between face and blade.
  3. LATHER UP: Use GLYCERIN FACE/SHAVE SOAP or our FIELD SHAVE SOAP CANISTER to create lather with hands or our SHAVE BRUSH and massage onto moist beard.
  4. SHAVE: Use your preferred razor with warm water. (We highly recommend using a double-edged safety razor or a straight razor)
  5. AFTER-SHAVE: Rinse face with cool water. To close pores and restore balance, apply BERGAMOT AFTER-SHAVE. To lock in moisture and maintain that fresh shaved feeling, apply AFTER-SHAVE BALM & FACE MOISTURIZER.

Usually, when our products are out of stock, they can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to be back in stock. Our products are created in small batches and must pass a quality control test every time before we can get them out to our customers to ensure that our products perform well consistently. We do our best to get the product back in stock as soon as possible, but things out of our control sometimes happen, so please bear with us if it does happen to take a bit longer – we just want to make sure that you’re receiving a quality product every single time.

All of our products are vegan-friendly with the exception of our 3:1 COMPLETE HAIR & BODY WASH, which contains honey.

We do not test our products on animals. All of our products are tested on ourselves and our customers in the barbershop to ensure they perform at their best.

All of our products are paraben-free and sulfate-free, which the exception of our CLASSIC POMADE, which contains methylparaben. Methylparaben is used in the formulation of CLASSIC POMADE to serve as an antimicrobial agent; methylparaben is naturally occurring and found in several fruits, namely blueberries.

All of our consumable products (hair, shave, skin care, etc.) have a shelf life of 2 years once opened. Products that are used after that are not guaranteed to perform as intended.

We advise you to keep products in a cool, dark area to prolong the shelf life as continuous exposure to extreme heat/cold and sunlight can negatively affect performance significantly.

If you happen to come across our products provided at a hotel you are staying at, we currently do not offer those exact items due to an exclusive agreement between us and the product distributor for the hotels. Please contact the hotel you stayed at to acquire those specific products.

However, our LUXE COLLECTION is now available. LUXE is our suite of premium self-care product offerings that includes our SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, and BODY WASH.

All of the LUXE COLLECTION products are paraben-free, sulfate-free, gluten-free, and not tested on animals.

We typically ship out next business day Monday to Friday (except holidays). The order cutoff time is 12 PM Pacific Time. Orders placed after will ship out the next business day.

During busy times and holiday seasons (i.e. BFCM & Christmas), fulfillment and shipping may be delayed due to high volume.

Orders shipping with free shipping (FedEx SmartPost) typically takes 5-7 business days to arrive. Orders shipping to PO Box, military, US Territory, and international addresses may take longer to fulfill and arrive.

If your package is stuck in transit, we will ship out a replacement immediately. If your package was delivered but missing (i.e. stolen, delivered to the wrong address), we may require signature on delivery or ship to a nearby FedEx store location when shipping your replacement.

If your package was damaged in transit, please email ecommerce@imperialbarberproducts.com with your name, order number, and photos/video of your order and we will send you a replacement.

We will not send a replacement or offer a refund if your order was shipped to a freight forwarding address since we cannot confirm/verify delivery details.

Blacktop Pomade - 6oz

Blacktop Pomade is designed for salt & pepper, gray, and lighter-colored hair. Its subtle black tint helps darken the appearance of gray hair while adding control and definition to classic styles.
Blacktop Pomade provides medium-strong hold with low shine. The hold can be adjusted by how much water is in your hair when you apply it.
It helps partially cover and darken the appearance of gray or salt & pepper hair with a subtle black tint. It is not a permanent hair color, and the tint washes out completely in the shower.
You can, but the tinting effect may not be noticeable on naturally dark hair. If you do not need the darkening effect, Imperial recommends Classic Pomade instead.
Yes. Because it is water-based, you can add a little water to reactivate the pomade and restyle your hair as needed.
The dark tint may stain light-colored clothing or run in heavy sweat or rain. Use extra care in hot or wet conditions and around light fabrics.

California-Grown Luffa

It is a natural shower tool made from luffa plants grown in California.
It helps cleanse the skin while providing physical exfoliation to remove dirt and dead skin cells.

The reusable canister comes with a three-inch Glycerin Shave Soap puck.

Imperial recommends using the canister with a shave brush to build and apply the lather.
No. Imperial notes that it is neither air-tight nor water-tight.
Rinse and drain it, then let the soap and the inside of the canister dry completely before replacing the lid and storing it.

Gel Pomade provides strong, all-day hold. The final strength depends on how much product you use and how much water is in your hair during application.
Yes. It goes in light and smooth, then dries into the hair for a firm, stay-in-place finish.
Yes. Imperial recommends it for thickening and enhancing volume, especially when paired with a light blow dry.
Yes. It can be used as a base under Classic, Blacktop, Fiber, or Matte Pomade Paste for added structure, volume, or hold.
It is water-reactivatable and rinses out, although shampoo is recommended when washing it out, especially when it has been layered with another styling product.

Gel Pomade - 2oz Travel Size

Yes. It delivers the same strong hold, high shine, and set-in-place styling in a compact size.
Yes. The 2 oz size is designed for travel and on-the-go styling.
It is ideal for slick backs, high-shine side parts, pompadours, comb overs, mohawks, fauxhawks, and curl-enhancing styles.
Apply it to damp, towel-dried hair. Imperial does not recommend applying Gel Pomade to dry hair because it dries faster than the other styling products.
Yes. Apply a small amount, style and blow dry, then add another Imperial styling product for additional control.
The formula is water-reactivatable and rinses out, but shampoo is recommended, especially when Gel Pomade has been layered with another product.

Glycerin Shave Soap (Puck)

It is a three-inch round puck designed for a shave mug or bowl.
Yes. Imperial describes it as the same natural, dual-purpose shave and facial cleansing formula in a puck format.
A shave brush is recommended for the traditional wet-shaving experience and for building a rich lather in a mug or canister.

Yes. Imperial says it provides enough protection to be used on its own without an additional shave cream.
Yes. Apply a few drops before Glycerin Shave Soap or add a couple of drops directly to the shave soap before lathering.
Yes. Massage a couple of drops into the beard daily to help keep facial hair soft and conditioned.
Imperial describes it as having a calming Bulgarian lavender scent.
Yes. Plant-derived squalane and tocopherol, a form of vitamin E, are listed among the ingredients.

Shave Bundle

The bundle combines Pre-Shave Oil & Beard Conditioner, Glycerin Shave/Face Soap, and Bergamot After-Shave.
Yes. The bundle supplies the shave-care products, but you will need your preferred razor.
